RIP tablet

My old LG tablet had been suffering from water under the screen for a while now. I think it got this way from being handled while my hands were wet from cooking... in other words, I'm not even sure if it's water under there or oil. It used to just be a little bit on the edge, but now the watermark is pretty much front and center under the screen.

Took it to the local shop today to see if they can fix it. Turns out no, so I did a factory reset and left it there to recycle. (Note to self: they take most computer accessories for recycling!)

Anyway, this means I'm in the market for a new tablet. Any suggestions? (Android only, no iOS)

Dimensions of previous tablet/case: 6.53" (H) X 10.27" (W) X 0.35" (D)

Looking at some possible options...
BYANDBY - cheap
Telcast - Android 12, not sure about dimensions
Headwolf - similar to above, better dimensions

Samsung A8 - larger screen (won't fit existing accessories), more expensive
Amazon Fire - non-Android, need to fiddle with getting Google Play

Yeah, I have no clue about tablet quality since I've been using the old Samsung Tab S1(?) from back in 2010s and haven't gotten a new one and probably won't be getting a new one anytime soon.

Wirecutter recommends Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 if that's any help.

Tom's Guide recommends Saumsung's A-series (specifically the Samsung Galaxy Tab A7).

The problem with some of the cheaper tablets is that the processing speeds are real shit in terms of actual performance, even with low-demand apps, so that's something to keep in mind.

What about the Kindle if all you're looking for is some e-book reading? You don't need a dedicated Android OS for e-books. And the 2022 model is pretty cheap, and it reads html, pdf, rtf, and txt.

Also, MyTabletGuide has a best under-$100 list that you can look through.

Another option is to look into the second hand market for a cheap-o tablet. (Just thought of this as I'm trying to sell my furniture for the upcoming move.)

OfferUp is apparently the new Craigslist, so you can try searching that site and see if anyone's selling their tablet at an offer you want. Obviously, there's always e-bay.
