OK, this is the case where I think Bai Yutang is channeling Ranma (Ranma 1/2) or something. As in open mouth, insert foot. If he'd been my boyfriend (or even normal friend) I'd have smacked him into the next time zone. (Un?)fortunately, Zhaozhao has a higher tolerance for jerkitude than me. :p

Nods. Though, in most cases, I don't mind as much cuz Zhaozhao gives back as good as he gets. During 捆龙锁 he bickered on even terms when tied up with Bai Yutang and in 英雄无泪 he was totally in control of the situation.

But in 太岁庄 he just sort of gets mad at what Bai Yutang is saying about him but just stands there and takes it without saying much to his own defense. That plus the fact that Bai Yutang was casting aspersions on his character (which is stupid given their history so far) instead of just poking personal jabs which only shows off their closeness. Iono, I guess when Zhaozhao doesn't fight back it just brings out the defensive!fangirl in me. :P

Though, I haveta say, this case gives me the impression that Zhaozhao totally has a thing for Bai Yutang, but it's only one-sided so far while Bai Yutang is both oblivious and well... 落花有意，流水无情. Poor Zhaozhao, doesn't have his feelings returned and has to watch Bai Yutang go chase after girls like Su Hong in 双妹怨 and that Ming-wannabe in 太师还朝.

Don't worry Zhaozhao! We still love you!! T_T

Hmm...wow BaiYuTang really lays on the 大道理 in this case eh? I see what you mean by ZhaoZhao not tossing back insults, but I'm feeling BaiYuTang's reasons are pretty solid in this case. I have a little more respect for him now that he's proven he's not just a big playboy with good looks and a sword he knows well how to use...any more serious and he should apply for a job in the Imperial Court too (work alongside ZhaoZhao XDD yeah right, they'd turn the place upside down)

I think we've found part of the reason why Bai Yutang has no luck in releationship of any kind, be it with guys or gals. XD

I think Zhaozhao is already consciously swingin'. I mean, look at his record...

真命天子 - Attacks 襄阳王's carriage after Bai Yutang gets smacked and ends up getting blown away with explosives.

蒋平娶亲 - First thing on learning that Bai Yutang's sword was sticking out of some official's chest was "he didn't do it". (Compare this to Bai Yutang's accusations on hearing Zhaozhao being accused of murdering his master in 五鼠闹东京...)

捆龙索 - He comes right out saying I have no regrets dying with you and ZOMG how much more blatant can you get in the limits of the Chinese language? X3

双妹怨 - Randomly comes across news of Bai Yutang in trouble and immediately runs to the rescue despite the fact that it's not his jurisdiction. And then gets thrown in jail cuz of it.

怒犯天条 - Lies about the imperial decree despite it being a capital offense and against the law, just cuz Bai Yutang begged him. Also, literally says something like 'for this emotion, I'll do whatever it takes'.

太岁庄 - Slaps whatisname for intruding on his private meeting with Bai Yutang.

太师还朝 - Obviously gets jealous over news that Bai Yutang won the fight for the Ming-wannabe's hand in marriage.


...I think the record speaks for itself. ^_^

It's just Bai Yutang who needs to come out of the closet. :p

I think the Zhaozhao fandom is the only fandom I've been in so far where the honest to god 'I am Miss perfect' Mary Sues tend to die like flies in just about every one of those kinda fics. By their very own authors no less, rather than in MSTs like most other Sue deaths....

Pretty much. Sues are when the story shows up with some original female character that is usually the prettiest thing ever and in wuxia cases sometimes got the best kungfu and always ends up paired with one of the main characters (ie Zhaozhao).

MST stands for mystery science theater. It's where other fic writers take some really awful piece of fanfic by some other author and then write a story around it to satirize/criticize the original fic.
