Alrighty, so [insanejournal.com profile] ossian asked for a new mythology theme for his journal. Well, obviously, the first thing that popped into my mind was "GJ? Muses!". 'Cause of course, who better than the patrons for creativity and the literary arts to give homage to on an online journal? Although, other patrons like Hermes, Athena, or Dionysus might be appropriate as well. ^_- So a quick google search later... here are some very nice prospects:

First of all, there's always Kagaya-san's wonderful mythology and zodiac CGI artworks.

Paintings by Simon Vouet (c. 1627)
Scroll down at the bottom, there's a "Apollo & the Muses" painting, as well as a Apollo solo clip. And from another site, he's also got a Calliope and Urania painting.

Paintings by Eustache Le Seur (c. 1655)
Three paintings - two trios of various muses and Terpsichore by herself.

Paintings by Nicolas Poussin (c. 1630s)
Scroll down and you'll see "Dance to the Music of Time" (which seems quite fitting for either the calendar or day view page) and another "Apollo and the Muses" (plus other random people I have no idea who).

Then there's this French page with lots of paintings, sculptures, etc.
In particular, we have another Apollo pic, a Athena/Minerva and the muses painting

Another Athena & the muses.

Another black and white shot of the muses

A smallish Athena pic.

Anyways, [insanejournal.com profile] ossian, just pic an artwork for each of your 4 GJ pages (and pick an alternate for each just in case the first one doesn't work out) and I'll code the page for ya. Don't worry about pic sizes and whatnot. I'll take care of all the rest.
