California is having a bad summer this year...

This past weekend we had a heat wave again. Sunday and Monday both had high temperatures reaching 100 degrees F again. It's a good thing I bought a portable AC after the last heat wave, which came into use now. It's not as good as a real AC, but it manages to keep the temperature of my room under 90 degrees F which is good enough.

Then after the heat went down, this morning I wake up to ruddy skies, smokey air, and a thin layer of ash on my desk accumulated due to my open window overnight. Yeah, the CA fires are still burning, a big chunk going all the way from eastern edge Fremont to eastern edge of San Jose.

JFC, that's shit. The fires are still going? /(ㄒoㄒ)/~~

BTW, were you not able to get a window unit (instead of a portable AC?) We got the this tiny window unit in our rodent room (for the chinchilla), and it manages to cool the other two rooms as well. Some window units are pretty strong.

2020 is turning out to be complete shit. Are the fires near or is it the wind that's blowing the ashes over?

I think it's the fires which are causing the severe overcast. Kinda like what happens to weather after a volcanic eruption, without the volcano. The fires are close enough on the map to warrant mention, but we're not under evacuation warning yet. Currently, it looks like winds are mostly blowing east, so it sucks for Eastern CA but we're fine on the west side of the fire.
