So is it worth tracking down? (As a let's play or cutscene movie?)

Also, if you're up for watching JRPG stories, I totally recommend Tales of the Abyss (which has an anime, even though I know you kinda didn't get into it the first time, I still think you should give it a try, it's worth the effort) and Valkyria Chronicles (but don't watch the anime, it's a bad adaptation).

Cutscene movie or let's play would both work. There's also quite a few analysis videos that go into stuff further, like the subtle tie-ins to the convoluted prequels (which aren't required to understand the story since they all take place 10k years ago).

Also, the soundtrack is really good too.

Hm, if I find a good one, I'll check it out. Is it only English voice acting? *cringe*

You can probably find the Japanese version. But from what I hear, general consensus is that the English voice actors were not bad, and the male co-lead is actually really good.

Not bad...but I find the original Japanese voices still heads and shoulders above their English counterparts. Usually. It's rare when it isn't. (Rule of Rose was one of the few where the English was so good they didn't record a Japanese version.)
