Windows 10

Finally got a PC refresh at work. My new laptop is running Win 10. So far the only problems I've had were some issues with sound (found the setting to fix it), and desktop icon positions resetting on restart (not sure if fixed...). The navigation for the most part are similar enough to Win 7 to be fairly painless.

We'll see how it goes.

What about the security issues? I hear that Win10 sends personal info back to Microsoft headquarters without letting the user know and has a tendency share shit on the cloud by default.

(Still better than iTunes that autodeletes every mp3 it finds.)

Well, this is my work laptop, so I'm not going to be doing a lot of NSFW stuff on it anyway. If there's a confidentiality risk, that's for Cisco Legal to figure it out.

Besides, it's not like smartphones nowadays aren't even more invasive. I mean, Pokemon Go alone is a potential Big Brother watching your every move.

Well, I was thinking more in terms of using it for personal computers, like gaming systems and such. I still like win7 most right now, because am not a fan of win10's ugly block/app thingy. I know there's a way to turn it off, but the option being there annoys me.

Also, does win10 retain aero windows? Never understood why they got rid of that.

Hm, on installation, mine looked about the same way it did as Win7, except the task bar is black instead of grey. The only blocky/app like thingy was in the start menu.

Aero windows is the semi-translucent color of the windows, as opposed to the opaque windows from pre-Vista. Literally the only reason I upgraded from XP was because I liked the way the aero windows looked.

Edit: Also, the blocky start menu was the reason I didn't upgrade to win8 and the reason I'm leering of win10. Yes, I'm a very aesthetics focused person. XD

Apparently not 100%. Ugh. You have to fudge with registry. Yeah, I guess it's not that much of a pain, but still, don't understand why win10 couldn't just make it turn off/on like they did in win7. Bleh.

Oh well, I'm still on win7 for now. Maybe next time if I get a new computer, I'll reconsider. *shifty eyes*
