So I've been reading stuff from the alternate history forums, particularly the ISOT timelines/fics. Now, the community there is pretty heavily western, so most there's a lot of Ameri-wank, Brit-wank, etc. Not much of East Asia gets included in these scenarios, and sadly, so I am left to ponder on my own...

So, the first step is to pick which parts of China to drop into the past for maximum effect (or lulz). I figure we'd want the coastal areas which are the most advanced and well educated... so that would be what, from south to north - Guandong, Fujian, Zhejian, Jiangsu, Shandong, Hubei, Liaoning provinces, plus Beijing, Shanghai, HK, & Macao areas, and of course everything inside of national . We'll leave Taiwan behind so it can be properly reconquered or something. :P Is that enough area to be mostly self sufficient on their own? Would having or not having the Three Gorges dam be a big issue?

And of course they should be sent back in time to the reign of the Qin emperor... XD

Or maybe the beginning of Three Kingdoms (Millions of fans swarm Zhuge Liang's hometown while Liu Bei is visiting... Zhuge: -_-+)

Or early Tang? (Tripitaka is accompanied on his epic journey by a team from CCTV... Tripi: =_=;)

Wage war against the Jin or the Mongols in Southern Song?

Joint voyage with Zheng He to the New World? (ZH: O_o)

Kick out the western imperialists during late Qing?

The culture clash with the various imperial periods would be delicious as long as we don't bring Shaanxi Province along.

I am so confused.

Care to give more background on the hypotheticals? What is the purpose? Who is being sent? Why are we doing this?

Also, if you're going to count "coastal" provinces, then you should include all the provinces that are near the major rivers too. So basically the entire south (Guangxi, Guizhou, Hunan, Chongqing, Anhui, etc.).

Basically kinda like this scenario (http://www.webscription.net/p-379-1632.aspx), except more than just one town gets ISOT'ed
