So. While I was stuck on a long conference call with nothing to do, I opened an account with Kingdom of Loathing. I'm past level 3 now and is there a clan I should join?

Er, my clan is Science Lab. Yeah. *shifty eyes* (Someone else made it, I jumped in because they were accepting all applicants.)

My character is stuck in hardcore mode right now and cannot help you, because it's less time consuming than running softcore. Check out wiki for ascension/quest guides and stuff. Don't forget to abuse buff bot (http://kingdomofbuffing.com/index.php). I suggest to keep the following skills on you at all times:

I see people giving smiles (of Mr. A) to buffbot... that requires $50 does it not? :P

Also, I would need to have excess meat to donate... :/

The hardcore rewards do look pretty. Are they the uberest of the EQ out there?

You can change clans, yes. The clan's credo is correct. You've got the right one. It'll take a while for the thing to process, but you should be good.

Smiles of Mr. A. is given to the people who use the buff bot, not the other way around. Just send meat or Dr. Jumbo Lucifer or scrolls of drastic healing when you get 'em. You're still early, donate when you've gained more meat. (I'm on my second ascension, and I've only donated once. I'm such a moocher. XD)
