Circuit City - I checked the site and its laptops are much more expensive. And most of them aren't 4 GB RAM. So I wouldn't bother with it.

*hugs*

I have to say, the ASUS (ass-us?) is pretty temping, what with huge battery life, pretty damn high processing speed and stuff for a mere $589.99. The bluetooth isn't as attractive, due to my already having a bluetooth adaptor/antennae. On the other hand, ASUS has a weird resolution (o.O) and Toshiba has a bigger HD, but the processor is minorly less powerful.

On the other, other hand (tentacle?) the HP Pavillion has AMD processor.

I don't know which one I should be getting. *bawl*

For a casual user, I don't think the AMD versus Intel processor should be too much of a consideration. Also, the AMD one only has 3 hr battery life.

Asus is definitely a tempting choice... the weird resolution seems to come from the fact that it's a 14" and not a 14.1" screen. It might make wallpapers and graphics awkward - I think you should see if there are any demo units in the store so you can look to see if the screen/graphics are acceptable, before making a choice.

If the Asus doesn't work out, then I would go for the second or third one on the list.

Well, I'm not too worried about not being able to find wallpapers for ASUS, mostly because I make my own these days, so it's not that much of a problem. However, how well it translates into another monitor may be a bigger issue. (I'm not even going into the minor freak out after remembering my wallpaper was man-on-man action while mom was coming to visit. Let's just say there was a lot of quick talking and distractions.)

There's demo units, and I'm definitely going to be asking the geek squad to help out. I'll still keep in mind the second and third units for back up if ASUS isn't up to task.
