Western aesthetics in fantasy/gaming

Idealizing Fantasy Bodies is an interesting article on the most popular/successful western style MMO and how it reflects western aethetics and gamer psychology.

I would love to see a similar study done for eastern games/aesthetics, and then compare the differences.

The article loses me. Was it trying to show that Western MMOs tend to exaggerate the female sexuality and decrease the same in males? Is it saying that the games are designed geared towards a specific audience (i.e. dorks w/ no lives)? Is it trying to say that lack of diversity doesn't hinder the players' enjoyment?

Such an unclear thesis, I'm amazed this guy/girl managed to pass college writing.
