This one's a moving depiction of 丝绸之路. Not sure if the song's actually from the 漢武大帝 show or a fanvid. 张蹇 must have been one of 唐僧's prior incarnations. :p

Vid 1&2: If this were a western movie, I'd totally jump the slash boat, but since it's a Chinese historical-soap (which it is, including all the bad acting), I'm gonna go with they're probably too sexually repressed to know they want to screw each other's brains out. I mean, there's so much "slashy" Chinese literature that this feels like it's scraping the bottom of the barrel to use the 君臣 relationship as a starting point. Hell, I see more slashy overtones between 孔明 and 公瑾, and they're not even servants for each other. :p

Vid 3: Wow, um, what? Sometimes I wonder if the show makers care anymore.

OPs&EDs: This just convinces me that they don't care about content and are too hung up on the processing part. Sure, they could've picked a more un-fitting, anachronistic song, but these are still pretty bad. Whatever happened to the song writers for the 四大名著? I mean, geez people, it's not that hard to pick an ancient sounding song as a theme song.

Random: How much do I hate that script writers keep using modern Chinese for their dialogue? So, so very much. Couldn't they at least use pseudo-ancient Chinese, like JTtW did? Every time I hear modern speech from a period drama it makes me shudder. It's like watching Shakespeare being performed in valley girl speech, NOT COOL. Ug.

Last fanvid: How sad is it the fans can pick a slightly more approps song than the producers could? Hell, I prefer that fanvid to the original OP/ED of the show. At least the instrumentation sounded like it was performed by traditional instruments instead of being plinked out on the (western) piano.

See? Pseudo Chinese works! (http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/texjk209l70/) I mean, sure, the occasional Beijing accent leaves me going "buzzuh", but all in all, much more bearable than listening to something spoken in full modern Chinese.
