tanithryudoBrowsing through some threads on one of the GW forums following one particular thread out of morbid curiosity. I just couldn't help cracking up at the following exchange.

Have I asked for 5 googal gold +10 ectos? Hell no. With 2 threads I've asked for at the very least character transfers (in response to an anet flip-flop) and a refining (as Gaile used the work so eloquently) of the old prophecies preorder items (in response to the growing population of minis and fashion victims). Asking for these things (along with making the old chapters on par with the new and allowing inscritpions/mods on the preorder items/old armor) is hardly entitlement by any definition. Its more like services rendered for my checks that have been cashed.

The irony is that, if one were to measure the number of people worried about the old pre order weapons, and the number of people worried about new mini pets and hats, I'm sure the later would win - given how I doubt the first would have enough people to add 200 districts to Shing Jea
If you think you should be in charge of how money you spent on a game should be used, feel free to begin your own company. That's the only way for that money to be yours.

Because ANet is not "misusing" your money.
They're using their money.
ANet will develop/design/implement/fix/code/build/create whatever they please, and beyond your ability to complain online about it, you aren't entitled to a single bit of input or control over what the devs do. The only thing that YOU did was buy a copy. You made a one-time purchase of a video game. You are entitled to log into that video game and play it if you choose, but you really aren't entitled to diddly squat more than that, beyond what the box you purchased contained. Just like buying a PS2 game... your transaction is complete.
See what I'm saying? It's not your money anymore. You are not an investor. You are not a shareholder. You do not pay a monthly fee. You made a one-time purchase of a video game.
Seriously, if you bought Metroid Prime, and then a few months later, Nintendo came out with a new Barbie Horse Adventures video game, and you think that playing Barbie games are a complete waste of time... would you go post on the Nintendo forums about how the devs at Nintendo are "misusing your money" by not developing things that appeal to you? It would make just about as much sense, you know.
Perhaps your sense of entitlement needs to be brought inline with reality? Quick, someone cast Shatter Delusions on this guy!

Does the whole "consumer" thing escape you? They are using money I gave them (as small a portion as it may be) to do things with the game I don't like.
Secondly, Metriod Prime and Barbie Horse's Arse are 2 totally different games, and most likely made by two different developers. Nintendo, on the other hand, is merely the manufacturer/developer of the system they are played on. Im not gonna scream at e-machines because ANET is making fluff content. I'm perfectly happy with the way Oblivion runs on my computer, so its not the platform but the game itself.
It may come down to me not giving them any more of MY money as they keep misusing what I've given them in the past. And besides...if its not my money anymore, this can't be thier game anymore by the same logic. Therefore I demand (since this is MY game after all) that they stop making minis/hats and focus on refining current content as well as making useful tweaks to the game...minus the fluff.

I dunno... can someone be that out of touch with reality?
I mean, hey, I paid for my college classes. So does that since I think whatshername from Chinese History sucked that she should be fired because the University is misusing some small portion of my tuition fees for something I don't approve of? Or hey, maybe they should kick out the Fa Lun Gong peeps on my say so!

I wish the world actually worked like that. For me only, of course. Not for any of you other peons. :P
