Last Night

Went to my aunt's place. Had a very nice time. She makes huuuuuge sized dumplings - almost the size of my fist, and it's all of it homemade too. Ate until stuffed. Very good evening. ^_^

By the time we got home it was nearly time for me to go to bed. Dad turned on the TV as I was getting ready for read and I caught a few glimpses of the broadcast over from China for the Spring Festival party. (I heard that Shanxi refused to participate this year - they say it's 'cause they think the annual festival is just the same ol' stuff that's getting boring, but my uncle speculates that it may be 'cause they're a poor principality that can't afford it.) Anyways, the party is as always, wonderful classical music (erhu, I believe), wonderful songs by professional artists, comedy skits that goes over my head 'cause I don't get the refs... One thing bad: whoever thought mixing Mandarin and rap was good idea? Needs to be bludgeoned and shot. Painfully.

My cousin is in her junior year of high school, and busy with SAT's and stuff like that. She'll be applying for college come fall... they're hoping for Berkeley too, as it's so convenient. I think she's got good chances of getting in - her grades are good and she's got a lot of extracirricular activities to go with it. Only problem is that she has no idea what major/career she wants to go into - not much interest in any particular field, I guess. She doesn't like math, doesn't want to go into engineering or law or pure sciences. Favorite class (marginally) is English - I suggested journalism or marketing... or at least a comparative lit. major, maybe. Her parents suggest going into pharmacy 'cause it's a stable and lucrative job field... I dunno, I get the feeling that she might just go in with an undeclared major and decide later.

Nice morning today - it looks sunny, at least. But it's also freezing cold once you actually step outside. Oh well. Radio says there's gonna be some weak showers on Saturday, but the rest of the week should have clear skies. Also hear that some community out in Nevada (IIRC) has like 800-1000 people going on a collective diet. No program, just the usual common sense/lifestyle change thing. Hey, if it works, more power to them. Sounds very cute. Also heard a clip from Ahnuld after his dinner at some Chinese place last night in honor of the New Years... it was a good (political) thought, but man, he sounds like a dork. With Hollywood and then politics, y'd think he could afford a vocal coach... That and he either needs to fire his speechwriter, or definitely avoid ad-libbing. His words make his accent sound even dumber, if that's possible.

Hrm. Long post, but decide not to cut tag. Oh well.

Need some proof-reading before I post it. I was forced to cut the last parts of the first scene short because I'm unfamiliar with the MU and I was getting writers block on it for a while... Also, if the stream of dialogue from the second scene seems very confusing, and some lines seem like it could've been said by more than one character - that's okay, 'cause that was what I was trying to get across.

( check it out )

The next installment might some time; I'm not quite sure how I want to do things yet, and there's some ideas I have that I need to talk to FBH and Yeo first...

The first time I view my Friends page, it shows everything fine. But then I'd post a reply or someone else on my friend list posts a new rely or a new entry... but the Friends page *doesn't show it*. It's like it's always looking at a cached page, so I can't see when there are changes. It usually takes a long time for the darn thing to finally correct itself (ie. if I look at it again a couple of hours later).

Now, I can manually force it to refresh to show the new changes by doing shift-refresh, or adding a couple of ///'s on the end of the url (until I need to refresh it again, in which case I'd need to change the # of ///'s; and of course, the next time I click back I'd have to do it again)... But this is still annoying.

This isn't a computer/browser related issue either. It happens no matter if I'm at home or not, or if I'm using IE, Netscape, or Mozilla, or even if I'm using an Linux OS.

So does anyone else have this problem? Or is it just me?
