Screen NameImmortal TitleRaceClass/GuildAlignment
Seigaku group 1:
TezukaThe Peaceful RurouniHumanMonk (Ronin)True Neutral
Tezuka has never played RPG's before, and never really got into the whole RPG thing when the kids got nilly willy zapped into one. He spent all of his points on defense, and kept judo-throwing his opponents but not killing them. This resulted in his character having a perfect impervious defense that no attack will ever get through... and zero damage to any attack. So his strategy throughout the game was to just stand there and let the monster attack him and gradually kill itself bouncing off his damage shields. This usually takes hours. Per monster. Indeed, Tezuka's RPG style is highly reminiscent of his tennis style. Tezuka-zone, anyone?
OishiThe Virtuous HealerHumanCleric (Priest)Neutral Good
Oishi fights in a partnership with Eiji, as would be expected. Of course, his portion of the "fighting" just consists of him casting healing spells non-stop on his partner, who almost never remembers to watch his hit points. Much, much later, when Eiji finally gained enough levels/hitpoints/skills that this is no longer neccessary, Oishi can gradually also develop stunning magic and anything else useful. But his role is always supportive.
EijiThe Merry MageHigh ElfMage (Warlock)Chaotic Good
He fights purely offensive because he can rely on his partner for defense. His strategy consists of hasting himself and then slapping a gajillion low level magic blasts at the monster before it can do much damage. This works less functionally in the earlier levels, hence the need for Oishi's constant healing.
FujiThe Trickster FairyNymph (Sprite)Rogue (n/a)Neutral Evil
The most dysfunctional character in the group, and possibly the entire game. The mere idea of a pixie thief will tell you that (the pixie being pro-magic and anti-physical stats and the thief class being pro-physical stats and low-magic). He can't steal anything because he can't carry it. And he can't level because he can't do any damage.
Seigaku group 2:
InuiThe Wandering AlchemistHumanScholar (Alchemist)Lawful Neutral
For reasons unknown, his starting weapon in the *medieval* RPG game was... a semiautomatic. Without bullets. Not that he can aim a gun without clipping his own teammates anyway. Therefore, his best physical offense is just whacking someone with the butt of his gun for all of 2 hp. However, he make up for this (maybe) by corrupting any potions that his group can get their hands on via his incessant brewing experiments. The results of some of these experiments are very effective blast potions that can deal some very nice damage to monsters... along with the rest of his group. Others are actually decent healing or transformation potions. Unfortunately, he never labels any of them, leading to a lot of crack.
KaidohThe Wandering RangerWood ElfRangerTrue Neutral
He's an archer. He shoots. He does rangerly things and is basically in charge of this ill-matched group of loonies by dint of his abilities. It's just his luck.
Momoshiro???TrollFighter (Barbarian)Chaotic Evil
He bashes. The end. Well, and the fact that his usual rivalry with Kaidoh makes one almost think of Legolas and Gimli counting coup at Helm's Deep, if only he were a dwarf... much to Inui's chagrin.
EchizenThe Faithful HelperHuman --> GiantRogue (n/a) --> PageTrue Neutral
He carries the group's stuff because that's the only thing he's useful for, since he refuses to actually play (ie. train up his skills). And even then, he's not very good at keeping the things left in his possession because he'd rather be rid of them. This includes the gold.
Hyotei group 1:
Atobe KeigoThe Lord of AllAngelPsionic (Esper)Lawful Neutral
Everyone thought they were in this RPG problem together. Then they found out Atobe corrupted the program. You'd think the giant pictures of his face slapped on every building in every city in every chapter of the game would have clued them in. You'd think.
Kabajin/aGiantMonk (n/a)True Neutral
He's Atobe's shield and carry-all. He has high defense and does his master's bidding by standing in the way of incoming monsters and blasts. His giant race status also gives him the strength to carry all of Atobe's considerable belongings. Including the hot tub... don't ask.
JirohThe Jiroh FairyNymph (Sprite)Mage (n/a)Chaotic Neutral
He's Atobe's wand. No, really, in the literal sense. Atobe basically grabs him and waves him in the general direction of the monsters and Jiroh's innately high magic causes plenty of damage. He himself is asleep during the entire game, of course. Oh yes, Atobe chose his stats too. Why do you ask? :p
Hyotei group 2:
ShishidoThe Newbie HelperDwarfFighter (n/a)Lawful Good
He's the most functional character in Hyotei aside from Atobe's cheating, being the only person among them who's actually played RPG's before. That's why his group ended up one of the most successful in both equipment and gold. As a dwarf, he also honed up on his smithy skills... or that's what everyone assumed when he walked into chapter 4 of the game wearing a mobile suit. Yes, this from a *medieval* level era.
Ohtorin/aHumanCleric (Priest)Neutral Good
He spends all of his skill points in healing. He also has the bad habit of healing people in his group when they are only 1 hp down. By the end of chapter 4, he has at least improved to resisting healing people until they are down by 10 hp... this out of 5000 total hp.
Hiyoshin/aHumanRogue (Assassin)True Neutral (<-> CG)
He sneaked on invisible through most of the first chapter, following the wake of Shishido's destruction, and as a consequence, nearly died by the first boss when his sneak failed. In chapter 2, Shishido was determined that no kouhai of his would be non-function, and immediately forced him to train up his backstabbing skills. By the end of chapter 3, he has been provided a ivory handled basilisk tooth dagger by said senpai, and has become quite the dangerous backstabber. His lock-picking skills were also advance in that chapter... much more so than Fuji's.
Hyotei group 3:
OshitariThe Master ScholarHumanScholar (Scribe)True Neutral
MukahiThe Adventurer MageHigh ElfMage (Wizard)Chaotic Neutral
Oshitari & Mukahi partnered, and they spent the first chapter leeching off of either Atobe's or Shishido's group, and thus nearly failed the first boss. After that, Atobe told them in no uncertain terms that Hyotei would not tolerate dead weight and they will level or else. Thus, they adopted the "strategy" of Mukahi hasting Oshitari and then Oshitari whacking the monsters with a used tome. The size and quality of said tome was upgraded throughout the rest of the game... to the point of doing functional damage, which rivals Kaidoh's arrows. And since Mukahi dedicated all of his skill points to hasting because he refuses to get into a physical fight, Oshitari is hasted even more than Eiji.
Rikkai group 1:
Yukimura???Wood Nymph (Dryad)Cleric (Druid)True Neutral
He seems to be quite at home in the RPG. He also seems to be quite unconcerned for his teammates. As a Druid, he also has problems fighting animals, causing even more non-functionality to his already non-functional team. And that's not even counting chapter 3 which took place entirely indoors. It's like growing crack on cracked petri dishes.
SanadaPestilenceDemonFighter (Paladin)Lawful Evil
He would have been a functional character if he hadn't been infected with pestilence five minutes into the game... a pestilence which none of the magic users in any of the groups could cure, though that was more due to people avoiding him. As a result, he needs to be ressurrected every couple of rounds since he was the only one who could do functional damage in the group.
YanagiThe Immortal Page-boyDemonPageLawful Evil
He was aiming for Demon mage but got cast as a page boy for unknown reasons, which meant that he also had zero offense, though in his case it was not by choice. He does, however, get both a bag of infinite holding and a bag of copying (which can copy any store-bought potion, though not equipment or gold) which only pages can use, making it useless for anyone who was not a page. Unfortunately, he can't throw any of the blast potions himself, since he has no throwing power. On the bright side, at least he has high natural defense.
KiriharaThe Saintly DemonDemonMage (Wizard)Lawful Good
He started out as a demon of Evil alignment. Somehow, before he even left the starting point of chapter 1 (it actually took the group quite a while to do so, since Sanada kept dying and Yukimura was off in the clouds), his alignment turned to Saintly. No one's quite sure how this happened, but the consequences were that he was unable to attack anything of evil alignment due to his class and anything good due to his alignment.
Rikkai group 2:
JackalThe Generous MonkHumanCleric/MonkLawful Good
MaruiThe Ravenous MageHigh ElfMage (Warlock)Chaotic Neutral
He spent all of chapter 1 using his powers to feed Marui and nothing else. Their response to all monsters was to flee, earning them a whopping negative 10 levels when they reached the chapter 1 boss. The only reason they advanced at all was because Atobe got annoyed and killed the boss for them. After that, they grouped up with Niou & Yagyuu and actually became sort of functional... in that Jackal told Marui that he'd only feed him if he took out a monster, thereby forcing Marui to increase in attacks and actually do something besides eating. Surprisingly, Marui was quite efficient when properly motivated, and soon arrived at the average levels of the other players.
YagyuuThe Pant DevilDrowRogue (Ninja)Neutral Evil
NiouThe Pant DevilWood ElfRogue (Ninja)Chaotic Evil
They sneaked through all of chapter 1 and faced the same problem as Hiyoshi, except they didn't have Shishido to save them. After that, they grouped up with Marui & Jackal and used their thieving abilities to good effect by literally stealing all of the armor and weapons off the monsters before either Marui or the monsters could attack, thus causing the monsters to have zero defense when Marui struck. They also had the bad habit of trying to steal from other groups, usually resulting in being beaten up by Hiyoshi or Atobe or Eiji (when alerted by Fuji). They were only successful when stealing from Shinji or Echizen, though the latter usually didn't have anything worth stealing from anyway (due to his habit of dropping the items in his possession).
Fudomine group:
TachibanaThe Wandering WarriorDwarfFighter (Paladin)Lawful Good
Determined to win the game (which no one else was taking quite so seriously), Tachibana assigned his groups their roles in order to maximize their efficiency. As a result, they were quite successful in gaining gold, equipment, and levels. He also took up smithing so they could repair any broken stuff they looted, which helped somewhat when they reached chapter 4, the futuristic robot chapter.
KamioAnn's MageWood ElfMage (Warlock)Chaotic Good
He took the same strategy as Eiji, except he actually paid attention to his hit points and also learned to dodge. This took some burden off of Shinji's shoulders...(to leave room for Shinji's other burdens *cough*).
ShinjiThe Thrifty ClericHigh ElfBardLawful Neutral
During combat, he mumbles a non-stop healing spell which completely drains his mana levels until the bar can crawl up again between monsters. Tachibana has not yet figured out how to cure this habit. Or his other habit, which was to keep every last piece of (often useless) loot/equipment/stuff that their group has collected and refuse to discard anything on the ground that they can be pawned at the next (distant) rest stop. As a result, their group moves at a slower pace than they otherwise would have, because Shinji is lugging a make-shift trolley filled with a small mountain of equipment, junk, and gold (because he refuses to get a bank account, not trusting the bankers). This burden would occassionally be forcibly lightened by Tachibana, or Niou and Yagyuu... though in the latter case, by an amount that only Shinji notices. However, despite all this, they were still the first group to arrive at the boss at the end of chapter 1.
St. Rudolph group:
Mizukin/aWater Nymph (Naiad)Psionic (Shapechanger)Chaotic Evil
Though he is a water nymph, he insists on calling himself a mermaid, much to his partner's consternation. His main skills has been devoted to charm and mezmerize, which has never yet failed him. He also makes one mean water potion, which allows Yuuta to join him in taking the short route across the bay instead of the long way around (though rather dangerous woods). However, they still arrived late because they kept on being teleported away by Yukimura's summoning spells. In later chapters where there were no source/bodies of water handy, he relied on Yuuta to carry him everywhere. They stocked up on a lot of bottles of distilled water (which were never stolen because it was useless to everyone else).
Yuutan/aHumanFighter (n/a)Chaotic Neutral
He's just a generic fighter, whose strategy is to whack the monsters after they are mezmerized by Mizuki. This tag-teaming method works surprisingly well, and is fairly efficiently. At least Yuuta can take comfort in the fact that he will always be more functional than his older brother in this game...
Yamabuki (group):
SengokuThe Lucky MinstrelWood ElfBardChaotic Neutral
His luck does all the work for him. He always comes across secret passages and discarded piles of gold and equipment. Oddly enough, every one of his (low-power) hits causes a stun, creating the odd circumstance of the chapter 1 boss that he faced to end up being stunned for 365 days when he finally killed it. As well, his natural tendency to flirt allowed him to build up his charm skills and finangle cheat codes from NPC's, including the robot ones.
Rokkaku group:
Saekin/aVampireMage (Warlock)Chaotic Good
Having the natural ability to fly, he and Kentaro took the aerial route in chapter 1, intending to speed their journey up. Unfortunately, they ran across every single airborne magical monster in the game, include a dozen or so dragons. So they died a lot. But on the bright side, they level up pretty high when they got to the boss, and therefore were able to finish it off with one hit.
KentaroThe Righteous KnightAngelFighter (Paladin)Lawful Good
Traveling with Saeki, he also level up a lot. Though since he doesn't need to invest in healing as the other healers did, he invested much of his skills in stunning, allowing him to stun for up to 3 hours with a single spell.
