Neoquest 2 Evil Mode notes
Jun. 26th, 2005 09:47 pmGeneral Tips:
Re: Equipment
* For Mipsy & Velm, always go for the weapon with the best powers (ie. not store-bought) b/c you don't care about the weapon damage.
Re: Shops & Prices
* Resurrection potions (10%) cheapest at Seaside (w/ discount), but still cheaper at White River City than at Lakeside.
* The same 25% slow potion from Seaside (Act 1) is obviously cheaper than those at the Mountainside Inn (Act 2), so stock up 5 or 10 in Act 1.
Neoquest 2 level-by-level notes
Act 1
Trestin: Healing Vials @ 12 gp (cheaper than White River City), Flare Potions @ 18 gp (same as White River)
Hunt Plains Lupe next to Trestin up to lvl 3. Heal only at Mothers & max out on Healing Vials from monsters.
Then hunt to lvl 5 with Aishas and Bearogs in the forest below Trestin.
lvl 5 - Hunt in mouth of Dark Cave (not the Gold Mine part).
lvl 6 - Normal walk through Dark Cave/Gold Mine. Fight Miner Foreman. (Flare Potions optional)
Restock Healing Vials at Trestin if neccessary, then normal walk to White River City.
Hunt near White River to lvl 7-8. Then hunt in Underground Caves to lvl 11.
lvl 11 - Restock Healing Vials at White River as needed. Normal walk to Zombom. (10 Blast Potions optional)
Refill Healing Vials on the north bank.
Lakeside - Don't buy anything there except for refill Healing Flasks.
lvl 15 - Sand Grundo takes 3 hits from Mipsy's Vaporize to kill. 1 slow potion is enough.
Seaside Village - talk to the potions dealer, then Uthyni, to get discout potions.
lvl 17 - Ramtor I only takes <3 dmg50 potions + Mispy's Destroy to easily deal with.
lvl 19 - Fight Ramtor II, Leximp (Act 2).
Act 2
Arrive at lvl 19+
lvl 19+ - Leximp resists all magic + potions, so use Rohane + haste potion.
Don't buy any potions except Healing Bottle refills at Chia Oscuro.
Hunt to lvl 22 near Chia Oscuro, then normal walk to Mountainside Inn. Don't immediately pick up Talinia.
Mountainside Inn - Cheaper potions at Happy Valley, so only need ~3 25% slow (for Kolvars) & healing restocks.
lvl 25+ - Pick up Talinia after hunting near Inn b/c three people get less experience per monster.
lvl 26 - Kolvars only takes 3 dedicated hits from Mipsy.
Happy Valley - stock up 5-10 dmg/slow potions & 5 haste potions. (Slow potions @ Sakhmet Huts in Act 3 are same %age.)
Happy Valley hunting/safe grounds - hunt to 26 if Kolvars hasn't done so.
Adventurer's camp safe grounds - hunt to 29 inside the mouth of the caves. (Go back for potions refills if neccesary.)
lvl 29 - Normal walk to the Mountain Top. (Should still be able to level up to 30 before Scuzzy.)
lvl 30 - Fight Scuzzy.
Act 3
Arrive at around lvl 30+
Hunt above the Sakhmet Huts to lvl 32, then normal walk to/thru Temple of the Sky.
lvl 32+ - Silicast resists all potions. Don't waste slow/dmg potions on him.
Then hunt to 34 in the front door of one of the first two temples.
lvl 34 - Normal walk to Gebarn. Should be almost or at lvl 35 when done. Restock potions and pick up Velm.
Waset Village - Keep full stock (20) of dmg/slow/haste potions from this point on for Terask II.
lvl 35 - Normal walk to Revenant. Hunt thru 1st floor of Palace. Be 36 before Revenant.
lvl 36 - Fight Revenant.
Then hunt up near hermit or in the east outside of Akhten-Ka.
lvl 38 - Normal walk to Coltzan. Don't hunt in Akhten-Ka (damage shield + MRdef sucks).
lvl 39 - Normal walk through Zakharukh's Pyramid. Be 40 before Anubits.
lvl 40 - Fight Anubits. Can be beat eventually w/o haste/slow potions. Damage potions only work in yellow region.
Act 4
Arrive at around lvl 40+
lvl 40 - Normal walk to Von Roo. Be 41 before Meuka. Don't need any potions to beat.
Then level up to 45 in caves and then fight Spider Grundo. After caves, wait until the Fun House to hunt.
lvl 48 - Fight the five Fairies. Slow Water, Dark, Fire first, mesmerize Water if available. Speed group.
Then normal walk to Nox. Should be lvl 49+ before facing Nox. Beware groups with 2 or more Hand of Nox.
Return to Brain Tree for restock after beating Nox if neccessary.
Finish leveling to 50 before Esophagor.
Act 5
Arrive at lvl 50+
Start rationing skill points. Save them for Terask if possible to maximize bonuses from equipment.
lvl 52 - Fight Fallen Angel. Resistant to Mipsy's DD. No potions needed if careful.
Normal walk through Underclouds/Cumulonimbus. The long walk should level up once.
lvl 53 - Fight Devilpuss.
Hunt to 54 near Cirrus. Splurge on equipment. Then stay on normal mode for rest of level (yes, all the way to 60).
No potions are needed for Fairy Thief, and the Pant Devils only need slow potion.
