Not feeling any love at all for the PoT manga right now. >_<

Read the following spoilers for Chapter 265 (where we see that Eiji is now Singles 2):

His opponent asks him "aren't you a doubles player?"

Kikumaru replies: "I will not play doubles again!"

They've taken apart the Golden Pair!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!! *is totally in denial*

GP FOREVER, DAMMIT!! T_T

What the hell is Konomi doing?! Seigaku is supposed to be weak at doubles and strong at singles, so what do you do? You take your most experienced doubles player (AND the doubles player with the most wins record period) and stick him on singles, and then put up a doubles pair with almost NO win record to speak of?! And you put said unexperienced in singles player on the linchpin Singles 2?! So that all the other team has to do is to beat your two weaker doubles pairs and your whacked out Singles 2 and you're losing the friggin' match?! What the hell strategy is this?

Oh right, it's a strategy that you only use if you can friggin' BREAK THE FOURTH WALL and know that the author is going to let you sweep your opponents 5-0 no matter what kind of crack lineup you have!

Me and [insanejournal.com profile] cashew wrote up the crack lineups in our Psidai series as a COMEDIC GAG, fercryinoutloud! As in they were meant to SUCK and be NON-FUNCTIONAL. But the way Konomi is going, our crack lineups will probably end up making more friggin' sense by the end of the Nationals than the offical manga canon!

Y'know, now I'm glad the anime ended where it did. 'Cause it sure would SUCK for all the characters to be twisted beyond OOC-ness just so they could follow the stupid stupid manga plotline. At least now, with the anime continuity, we're still left with the bittersweet 'ship specials at the end of the run.

Though, I also have the paranoid feeling that Konomi might have only OK'ed the slashy fangirl goodness arc (with the GP ep, the InuKai ep, the MomoRyo ep, the TezuFuji tri-parter, and the finale) to throw us one last bone before he proceeds to rip our collective hearts out of our chests in the upcoming Nationals. Gah.
