More Training Camp Ideas
Mar. 7th, 2005 01:38 pmSo, borrowing the device from cashew's newest fic, I thought it would be cool if we set up a dozen of them for the Psidai training camp too.
So there's 10 machines total, arranged in two rows of 5. Two groups go up each time and compete within the group.
Of course, the machine is now set faster, and the speed increases at an exponential rate (think x^2 or exp(x)), which means it rate it speeds up increases as time goes on. The force required for the return shots has also been increased. These changes should more or less offset any improvements by our characters in the 5-6 or so years intervening.
The goal for finishing the exercise is 100 returns. Anyone who makes a mistake before then must drink a mug of Inui Juice. (I'm also considering whether to have the "winner" within each group, if they still fail the 100-shots goal, only have to drink a shot glass of Yanagi slushy or something to motivate everyone to at least outlast their competitors. Of course, we could go the bowling ep rule of making the person who lasts longest but still fails the goal drink the large mug and the early failures drink the shot glass; but then we'd have both Inui and Yanagi throwing the match, and I want to see them last longer than they "should have" due to their data-knowledge, and then have to run laps.)
Order of Playing:
1. Acrobatics and Tensai-tachi
2. Power-players and Stamina-players
3. All-court players and All-arounders
4. Data players and Buchous
Acrobatics
Eiji - 59, then failed force requirement
Mukahi - 59, then collapsed
Tensai-tachi
Marui - 45, then accidentally did a net ball and failed the force requirement
Oshitari - 36, then failed force requirement
Fuji - 36, then failed force requirement
Shinji - 27, then failed force requirement
Jiroh - 8, then fell asleep and missed target
Power-players
Kabaji - 81, then speed failed and body couldn't handle the stress
Sengoku - 77, then speed failed (notes: high score due to boxing focus)
Ohtori - 68, then missed target
Momoshiro - 49, then missed target
Taka-san - 24, then missed target
Stamina-players
Kaidoh - 65, then missed target
Jackal - 59, then missed return (speed failed)
Yuuta - 42, then missed target
All-court players
Oishi - 82, then speed failed (notes: had a lot of help from precog)
Kamio - 68, then stamina failed
Hiyoshi - 51, then speed failed
Echizen - 45, then failed force requirement
Saeki - 13, then missed target
True All-arounders
Sanada - 100, finished exercise and is slightly winded
Shishido - 100, finished exercise and is winded
Yagyuu - 85, then missed target (notes: had a lot of help from vector vision)
Kirihara - 64, then failed force requirement
Niou - 63, then missed target
Data-players
Inui - 70, then speed failed (notes: last 10-20 returned via knowledge of server's algorithm)
Yanagi - 70, then speed failed (notes: last 10-20 returned via knowledge of server's algorithm)
Mizuki - 51, then missed target
Buchou-tachi
Tezuka - 150+, finished exercise but continued playing
Atobe - 150+, finished exercise but continued playing
Tachibana - 125, finished exercise then continued for 25 more before throwing in the towel
Kentaro - 100, then collapsed (stamina failed at 65 but finished via continuous adrenaline high)
Yukimura - 42, then failed force requirement (stamina failed)

Analysis
I actually had to tweak Momo's and Echizen's scores 'cause Seigaku's average was waaay too pathetic otherwise. As it is, their mean and median scores are still below the overall scores.
Fudomine lucked out in that they only had three people (data) and two of them did pretty well. With Tachibana's exceptional score balancing out Shinji's somewhat decent low score.
Hyotei would have totally dominated in average if it weren't for Jiroh pulling them down. Their STD is huge, but only because of the two outliers of Jiroh and Atobe on either extreme. The rest of the team have a STD of about early 20's or so.
Rikkai has the smallest STD among the big-3, and thus the smallest variation and best consistency of the abilities of its members. But that's probably because Sanada didn't keep going after 100 even though he could have. Then again, Shishido could have kept going too, so they balance each other out more or less anyhow.
But the luckiest of the bunch is Yamabuki, which has only one data point to make or break it. Or maybe I should say the luckiest of the bunch is Sengoku, whose score is above every other team's average. Heh.
