What this tells me is that writers behind the Penacony arc clearly don't think what Sunday did is severe enough to be equivalent to murder. And also that they buy way, way too much into the hedonistic pleasure without freedom of choice is less unethical than murder.
But also Dan Heng's entire thing (based on the story's own development) is philosophically unsound anyway. Like, he's supposed to be a woobie, but also the writers clearly also don't really see him as a separate identity from Dan Feng, hence the weird waffling back and forth on whether his imprisonment is "justified" in the text of the story.
All in all, am pessimistic about the future of HSR story.
