Happy Chinese New Year!

It's that time of the year again. Though this year not gonna stay up overnight to watch all the different galas for the various TV stations.

The CCTV gala has already come and gone. Zhou Shen made... 1 + 0.5 + 0.1 appearances? LOL. I actually liked the last one the best, because the dance is a feast for the eyes. Note 1: Zhou Shen's voice makes an appearance near the end of the BGM track. Note 2: Apparently this is a new version of the BGM he specially helped record for the gala. I thought it sounded different from what I remembered. XD

His other solo performance is also ok but not worth a post about. The song is kinda meh, but the panda and the kids doing qigong are cute. In any case, Zhou Shen can tick off the following on his list of CCTV CNY gala performances: duet song, solo song, group song, martial arts, dance. What do we have left? (Acrobatics, magic show, comedy skit...)

Happy New Year! Did you guys enjoy yourselves? We ended up skipping the gala 'cuz we got bored and watched Pixar's UP instead.

My new year has been torn between editing papers and battling emulators. Not sure what this bodes for the rest of the year.

Also, wait, the galas are during the day now? Man, I need to pay more attention to the TV schedule.

No, the gala was on the evening of the nineth in China. Which means I get to see it on the morning of the nineth, which is the tenth in China.

Wait, isn't evening of the ninth in China the morning of the ninth in Cali? Or am I getting my time difference wrong? Because I thought morning of tenth in China is evening/late afternoon of ninth in Cali.

Also, if galas were in the evenings (in China), why were you staying up to watch before? Unless you're talking about early evening, which makes it early morning in Cali and you decided to just not sleep instead of getting up early...

There's like a 16 hour difference between here and China. So 9 AM here is about 1 AM the "next day" in China already.

Yeah, that's why I got confused why you needed to stay up for the New Year's gala. If I'm remembering right, those things are usually 8pm-12am, which should translate to 4am-8am Cali time. Were you staying up through the night before? Instead of going to bed and waking up at 4am?

Yeah, before I get up at like 4 AM which is like 9 PM which is when galas usually start. But nowadays I just get up normally which is the next day already in China, and the galas already finished.
