Remembrance

Stargate Command, June 1997 CE

- Communications across wormhole with a representative of Galar
- Galaran rep is excited b/c they just figured out how the gate works and haven't had much luck getting valid addresses; this is their first off world contact
- Jack insists on making sure there's no killer bugs
- Galarans invite the visitors over, Hammond okays the trip
- Sha're insists on going since it's an Asgard protected planet
- just as they're leaving, SG-2 returns early
- claims to have found ruins with cuneiform writing (with pictures)
- but says the environment is not too stable and they're afraid they'll lose the info without someone who knows what it says to direct the recording
- requests that Daniel go with them to the planet
- Daniel is not sure about letting Sha're go w/o him, and Sha're is not certain about going without Daniel
- Jack suggests pushing back the visit to Galar until after Daniel's done with the cuneiform, but Daniel decides that they can do this separately and that Sha're will be fine with SGD
- Daniel leaves with SG-2, Jack takes Sam, Sha're and Lt. Freeman

Galar
- The Galarans are already aware they're protected by the Asgard
- polite toward the less advanced Abydonians but are very apparent they're not interested in a relationship with lessers
- are concerned when they learn that the Goa'uld aren't above 'testing' the PPT when they think they might be able to get away with it
- are interested in negotiating hyperdrive and weapons tech with Earth
- show off their memory tech; still pretty experimental

Stargate Command
- SGD returns with stories of the Galaran memory device
- they find a shell shocked SG-2, who reveal that Daniel died on the planet (same as on show)
- SGD is shocked and Sha're is in hysterics
- Jack wants to go back, but SG-2 violently reacts, and Hammond vetos the return for now
- Not sure what's going on, Janet insists SG-2 stand down for now

- Jack and Sam each try to awkwardly console Sha're, who can't believe Daniel's gone
- Jack talks with Kawalsky, who tries to apologize; their conversation just makes Jack more suspicious that something's going on
- goes to see Hammond, to see that Sam is already there requesting probe survey of the planet
- they don't find the volcanically active place that SG-2 described
- calls SG-2 in to see the images and they're confused
- sent back to infirmary for more in depth checking
- Janet find some kind of discrepancy in their brains
- Sha're wonders if they could have had their memories changed like they were shown on Galar
- Sam says they could try asking the Galarans for help since they're more advanced in that area
- they all go back to Galar, who are happy to help
- Kawalsky volunteers; the memory device shows that his memory was entirely planted and what really happened on the planet (as in show)

- Jack insists they need to go back to the planet to rescue Daniel
- what about the strange white light?
- decide to take shuttle (which Sam confirms is water capable if shielded)
- shuttle scanners are able to get further down into the water and picks up the alien's base as well as establish comm channel
- Jack threatens the alien to return Daniel; Sha're interrupts and pleads with the alien to return her husband
- the alien tries to attack the shuttle with the white light but it's bounced off the shields; it has no choice but to return Daniel, who assures it that he'll try to answer its questions

- after they go back, Daniel researches Omoroca and finds the answer to the alien's question
- requests returning to the planet, which the others are not happy about
- Sha're decides that the alien must've felt as she felt when Daniel was declared MIA and says they should give it closure
- SGD goes back to the planet, where Daniel gives the alien the bad news
- also tells him Earth is against the goa'uld and maybe they can still be friends; Nem says maybe in time and departs back into the water
