When would you use it? I'm pretty much doing nearly 100% stocking mimic runs because it's so darn better than anything else, and it's less of a bother to have to remember to switch back.

I actually switch out stocking mimic when trying to get quest items, makes things drop much faster. Usually I get about 8-12 pounds on the fairy and another 7-8 pounds on the leprechaun from doing bandits. It would be more efficient if I had a fairy/chaun if I can put all that weight into one familiar.

And yes, fairies do work better than polka if it's a choice between one or the other. I stack to the two to make things that much faster.
