Sins Come to Roost
Stargate Command, May 1996 CE
- Briefing:
- Jack wonders shouldn't Daniel still be on medical leave?
- Daniel says that he's been cleared for light desk work; thus, he's finally found Seth
- Many differences from original timeline; the local PD plus FBI/ATF are already involved
- Due to NID wrangling, SGC is relegated to 'liaison'
- Jack thinks they're repeating the mistakes of the Hathor incident
- Hammond assures them they can take over if need be; SG teams available as backup
- Sam mentions gathering additional intel via Destiny
Outskirts of Cascade
post-Rogue
- Jack arrives with Sam, Daniel; meets up with Samuels (new NID liaison) - snark ensues
- Sam briefs everyone on nish'ta and hand devices from the classified files
- Jack decides they should do a recon scan first; they note the modern weaponry (not enough to involve active ATF participation yet) and zats
- The group meets up with local forces; sparks fly (Darryl Banks is also in the cult)
- Cover story: Seth has some kind of biochem brainwashing agent used to turn normal people into fanatics; need to keep civilian casualties down b/c only one bad guy in there; but those civilians under the effect will fight to the death; strong zap will cure them out after 1 hour exposure
- Decide the best option is still infiltration
- Got slightly more advanced wires/electrical zappers; PD insist on being in mission
- Police think that the plan after being zapped is to capture/assassinate the leader; then the forces outside can storm in w/ crowd control gear
- Jack & team discuss alternatives in huddle; Plan A won't work if Seth has the hand device; Plan B is to have Destiny hack Seth's rings and transport down crowd control stuff (cultists aren't Jaffa), masks, special tranqs which might get past the personal shield and take out the Goa'uld (Jim hears this of course and tells Simon)
- Things sort of go according to plan until they're captured; Jim has bad reaction to the nishta which Seth finds odd/interesting; he questions the others who don't know what's going on, until he gets to Blair who spills on the Sentinel thing (Daniel hears this on the wire and does fast talking to prevent anyone else from finding out)
- Seth is interested in a potential hok'taur and wants Jim readied as a new host (after recovering from nishta)
- Jim wakes up just inside of an hour but is not entirely affected by nishta
- As Seth gets ready to transfer over, Daniel has no choice but to zap everyone to prevent the implantation
- Jim resists but is paralyzed by the hand device; Simon reaches the room first and tries to shoot at Seth, but is also blocked by personal shield
- Meanwhile Jack implements Plan B which gases the main chamber; SG-2 also ringed down with the equipment
- Jack & Sam quickly put on gear and go after Seth while SG-2 is tasked to secure the rest of the interior
- As they run, Kawalsky radios that they found some kind of remote charge set to blow up the whole place; Daniel reiterates Seth's MO of leaving his followers dead when he makes his getaway
- Jack & Sam run into Seth's room just in time to see Simon & Blair tossed aside and Seth ready to implant Jim again
- Seth sees them and their dress and realize the whole thing was a trap; reaches for detonator
- Jack pulls a knife and flings it into his free hand and knocking away the detonator
- Sam fires her dart gun but the shields block it; Seth calls for guards
- Three kids run in, including Darryl; Seth tells them to kill the others except for Jim
- Jack & Sam quickly dart two of the kids while dodging
- Simon tries to talk Darryl down; just as Darryl is about to shoot, Blair jumps him and they struggle on the ground
- In the confusion, Jim grabs the first dart Sam shot and jams it into Seth (bypassing shields)
- Seth throws him off and runs for it; comes across SG-2 as he makes for the rings; Kawalsky shoots him with a stunner which knocks down/out the host
- Jack and Sam reach the room just in time to see Kawalsky lean over Seth and get snaked by the escaping symbiote
- Seth-Kawalsky shoots (stunner) Lance and then runs for the rings; transports up
- Jack calls up Destiny. Finds out Seth-Kawalsky made it as far as the chair room and then disappeared in a white flash.
- Jack has the rest of in SG-2 work with the police to secure the site and make sure local forces don't make off with any top secret gear.
- Sam and Jack ring up to Destiny.
- They check the system; background security protocol had transported Seth to a secured location. Sam notes the internal security transport system is more advanced than the ring transport system; almost like two completely different techs
- They find the newly decompressed/aired brig room where Seth was kept. The text by the door isn't Ancient (its Asgard).
- When Jack opens the door, Seth taunts them; tries to rush out the door and is zapped/thrown back
- Recording of Thor plays and explains that the forcefield at the cell door is a goa'uld removal mechanism; can't get through until the snake is dead
- Jack stuns Seth and pulls him into the force field.
- Sam & Daniel join Jack in the A51 infirmary
- Asks how Kawalsky is doing
- Sam's not sure how much they believed the cover story of how Jack disappeared and SG-2 appeared in the building; but is pretty impressed with how the PD did;
- Daniel mentions Blair's Sentinel research (compares to the ATA thing)
- Jack & Sam skeptical
- Daniel proposes it as a hypothetical; thinks it would be an advantage to have something like that in SGC
- Jack makes a crack about the security risk; and about not wanting to hear geeks more than he had to
- Daniel mentions a report about Brackett and if Jim used his senses to get past security, it could be handy
- Sam points out they don't exactly do a lot of subterfuge, and for recon, sensors are better without risking anyone; but the DNA for such is interesting
- Jack notes that the CIA/NID probably has more use for someone like that than they do
- Daniel changes the subject...discuss Kawalsky's condition and what's going to happen to Seth's stuff
- Meanwhile, back in Cascade, Jim & Blair & Simon are at the loft speculating on what went on with Seth
- Blair guilty b/c he revealed the secret to Seth, Daniel, & possibly the military
- Simon and Jim try to cheer him up; so far nothings come of it and the AF do still owe them for Brackett.
- Jim is pretty sure the AF is covering up something
- Blair thinks the AF was after alien tech the military is covering up
- Jim and Simon find that ridiculous.

Notes:
1. "The Sentinel" takes place from 1996 to 1999. The SG1 episode "Seth" took place in early season 3/1999, so it probably took place before Jim was outted as a Sentinel in the series finale.
