A Brush with Density by Chelle
Slash, DM/M, PWP. It's...hot?
Rating: A-
Covenants series by Selena
Another Methos & Cassandra story/series. Characterizations are good in that I can see some of this being in an episode. Some of the premises for the plot, especially that third one, is kinda blah though. Some understanding of the Ahriman arc from canon would be helpful in understanding the plot of the first fic. How Methos had his encounter with the millenial demon, and how the Watchers dealt with the aftermath of the Horsemen arc.
Rating: B-
It's the Journey and A New Path by adabsolutely
Slash, DM/M. Kinda cute, I guess. Some loopiness, minimum of angst (comparatively). The OC's are well made without being Sue-ish. The boys go on a vision (or is it hallucination) quest.
Rating: B-
Kitten Without a Whip by genteelrebel
Slash, DM/M, PWP. Again, hot. And playful.
Rating: A-
Metempsychosis by Laura JV (jacquez)
Horror, probably. Though with a (I guess it counts as) happy ending. And never mind the biological impossibilities. Quickening = It's a kind of magic. And Methos is not gonna let some cheating babe keep his.
Rating: C+
Not by Unovis
Methos' answer to "To Be"/"Not To Be" two parter. Got a few snickers out of it, but really requires knowing the Methos HL-eps to appreciate.
Rating: C+
Nothing But the Truth by Carenejeans
Slash, DM/M, light humor. Again, worth a few snickers but not much else. Two words: truth serum.
Rating: C+
Parting Glass by Kat Allison
Post-slash (Is that even a term? For was-but-no-longer-in-a-relationship?) DM/M. Somewhat OOC, but again I like the novelty of a Methos who does not fall back into bed with Duncan at the batting of a Highland eye-lash and actually stick to his decisions rather than angsting about how a mere 400-year babe is much wiser than his 5 millennia.
Rating: B-
Selections From The Personal Journals Of Adam Pierson, Methos Researcher by Lanna Michaels
Slash, implied DM/M, humor. Very much snicker-worthy, even if utterly OOC. Methos has a one-track mind. *g*
Rating: A-
Provenance Unknown by Kathryn Andersen
Featuring Methos and Rebecca. Mostly in character and fairly well written. No romance. Featuring the backstory of the Methuselath Stone
Rating: B
Strength Undying, and In Love by icarus_chained
Slash, Methos/Joe. One of the few fics in this pairing, There's more angst here than I'd prefer, but it's readable.
Rating: C+
Sword of Lost Destiny by MarbleGlove
Nice twist in the story. Methos does not tell a tall tale this time.
Rating: B
Chivalry by icarus_chained
Crossover with Addams Family. Short, crack fic. Utterly hilarious with Clueless!Duncan and Methos having waaaay too much fun at this.
Rating: A
It's All In The Rhythm by icarus_chained
Crossover with Buffy. Short piece of light humor. Totally in character for both characters. Tweedy!Ripper-as-Giles getting almost-not-quite-accidentally-seduced by Easily-amused!Methos-as-Adam.
Rating: A
Trespass by Auberus
Crossover with Buffy. Short light humor similar to the above, though sans Ripper. Giles-the-librarian vs Adam-the-bibliophile.
Rating: B
Spiritus Sancti by Fides
Crossover with Buffy. Mostly Angst. The best part is the opener where Methos gets Ethan to consecrate Joe's Bar to the God of Death using himself as human sacrifice. The rest is just a bunch of angst.
Rating: C+
With Friends Like These series by a_lanart
Crossover and slash with Dresden, which I've never seen before, so I have no idea if it butchered that fandom. Characterization of the HL side is OK. Plus points for Amanda, and the running gag that everyone knows Hrothbert.
Rating: C+
Death and Betrayal by MarbleGlove
Crossover with Harry Potter. Bit of HP bashing, which is always a plus in my book. The fact that there's OOC-ness doesn't bother me in this case cuz it's the kind of OOC-ness that I like for these characters/fandoms. I love the novelty of treating the Horsemen era as something to learn from/look up to.
Rating: B
A Square Peg in a Round Hole by MarbleGlove
Crossover with Stargate SG1. I love this characterization of Methos as upcoming conqueror of the galaxy, even if it's not realistic. Makes for a great anodyne to those angst-ridden woe-is-the-Horsemen pro-Duncan fics.
Rating: A
A Bang-up Job in Carson Wells by amanda_r
Crossover with Lonesome Dove. A gathering (haha) of HL favorites including Connor, Matthew McCormick, Fitz, Cory Raines, and of course Methos. Takes place in the old west and is a delightfully lighthearted romp.
Rating: B
Circles and its sequel Incongruities by Lori
Crossover with Witchblade. Managed to not fall into the rut of Methos & Cassandra stories which characterizes one of the two as a raving loon (although, canonically in the Horsemen eps, Cassandra did act a bit like a raving loon). Manages to have a coherent plot, interesting twists, and likeable characterizations all around.
Rating: B
Joy, Watchfulness, Wishing by Vanzetti
Crossover with X-Files. Don't ask me how accurate it got the XF side written. Pity that Methos only appears to be a minor character. And just to note, Cory Raines is a minor HL char who's a pro-bank robber, friend of Amanda (who's a pro-thief), and who's also played by the same actor as Krycek.
Rating: C
Grief Therapy by PaBurke
Crossover with Buffy, Indiana Jones, Stargate SG1, Pretender, Lara Croft. But mainly the first two. Quite amusing throughout and manages to keep all the characterizations/universes straight.
Rating: A-
Potentials series by Texan
HL x SG1 x XF x Tom Clancy x B5 x Star Trek x Many Others. Mix-mash of xovers and sorta-sequel to Ecolea's HL x SG1 series.
Rating: C
Don Ho and the Born Again Virgin by Muffie
Buffy x Stargate SG1. Absolutely hilarious. Clone!Jack gets arrested along with Xander. Hijinks ensue as foes and friends of both parties trip over each other.
Rating: A
Magical Cage and sequel Home Base by litgal
Buffy x Stargate SG1. The first one is a little bit long winded and some of it didn't make much sense - Willow, Spike, & Xander stranded on a caged dimension with the SG1 team. The sequel is a short get together piece, but the second chapter had me giggling until I couldn't breathe.
Rating: C+/B-
The Key to Byzantium by Marcus Rowland
Buffy x Stargate SG1. One of the better written, plot-driven fics of this genre, that doesn't have the tendency of allowing the Buffy-verse magics totally overshadow the SG-verse science.
Rating: B
And Seven Times Never Kill Man by Marcus Rowland
Buffy x HP. Short fic. Not the usual HP bashing, but still amusing.
Rating: B-
Omphalos by Marcus Rowland
Buffy x DS9. I wasn't sure a crossover between a magic-based 20th century world would work with a sci-fi-based future world. But this one was ok.
Rating: C+
Family Issues by Marcus Rowland
Buffy x MIB. Yet another xover from this author. He's got a pretty record of *completed* BVS xovers that doesn't favor one universe over the other too much. This one adds aliens and whacky science to the world of the Hellmouth and whacky magic.
Rating: B
Wrong Host Wrong Place by Nycorson
Buffy x Stargate SG1. A goauld tries to take over the wrong scooby. There's actually a longer fic of that same theme but this one is a better balance and doesn't beat the horse to death.
Rating: B
There's No Place Like Valos Cor by jedibuttercup
Buffy x Stargate SG1.
Rating: B
Bridges by Tassos
Buffy x Stargate SG1. One of the few...ok the ONLY completed fic in the sub-genre of BVS-char-X is the new-found-kid/relative of SG-char-Y. Fairly well written too.
Rating: A
Trick or Treat by Kei
Buffy x Stargate SG1. Hey, it's the most recc'ed fic on the site for a reason.
Rating: A
A Changed World series by justaguy
Buffy x several other series. Only the first fic is finished, and that's a crossover with Law & Order SVU.
Rating: B+ (for the finished fic)
Rainbow in Sunnydale series by JoeB
Buffy x Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan novels. While I hated "The Bear and The Dragon", the other books in that series were ok. So's this series, even if the dialogue and characterization is more serious than usual for the BVS side.
Rating: B-
Tangled Plans
Buffy x X-Men (movie). Somewhat...unique....xover, I guess. Doesn't feel really complete.
Rating: C-
Summers in New York series by Gaeriel
Buffy x X-Men (movie).
Rating: C+
The Scarab
Buffy x Stargate SG1. Takes place in early season BVS, which is rare.
Rating: B+
No Rest series
Buffy x Stargate SG1
Rating: B-
In the Genes
Buffy x Stargate SG1. A little preachy, somewhat OOC, and I don't see why it had to be written in first person POV instead of normal 3rd person narration. Eh.
Rating: C-
A Different Future series by Lucifael
Buffy x Stargate SG1 x Other. A very different spin on the xover. With the SG1 side come to the BVS folks first, and Cordy of all people in the military (and not by choice).
Rating: B+
Neighbors from Hell(mouth) series
Buffy x Stargate SG1. Humor oneshots plus a dead WIP.
Rating: B
Seal Team 13 series by Tenhawk
Buffy x Tom Clancy novels x Other.
Rating: B+
Hermocrates series by Jaded
Buffy x Stargate SG1 x SG Atlantis. Not much plot, and probably OOC. But still, somehow amusing
Rating: C+
Tales from Atlantis series by Jaded
Buffy x Stargate SG1 x SG Atlantis. Fluffly series of drabbles with an overarching storyline. Funny and insane.
Rating: B+
Clone to Clone
Stargate SG1 x Pretender. Clone!Jack + Clone!Jarod with a dash of Cassie thrown in.
Rating: A-
Highly Classified and Very Hush Hush & Strictly on a Need to Know Basis
Stargate Atlantis x NCIS. Not my fandoms, but still made me laugh. Sequel not as funny as the original.
Rating: A / C
Lost Soul & Finding Closure
Stargate SG1 x NCIS / Stargate SG1 x NCIS x Stargate Atlantis. Mini-Jack gets in and out trouble and NCIS gets mixed up in it. Sequel is a trip to Atlantis.
Rating: B- / B
Family Ties
Stargate SG1 x NCIS. Jack & Mini-Jack out for revenge. The Asgard has a whoops moment again. (Also has a WIP sequel that xovers more series)
Rating: C+
Prodigal
Stargate SG1 x Stargate Atlantis x NCIS. For once, the "top secret" SGC secret is not disclosed nilly-willy.
Rating: B-
Truths and Shadows series
Stargate SG1 x NCIS. Another one where the "top secret" actually remains secret.
Rating: B
Chronicles of the Crusade Book 1: The Gateway and sequels by Jon Harper
Stargate SG1 x Babylon 5. The first fic is completed and pretty good. The second one is WIP and appears to be getting darker.
Rating: B+
Broth3rs
The Sentinel x Numb3rs. Slash fic. I'm not familiar enough with either show/fandom to judge the OOCness of characterization, but the plot and character interactions is fun. Kinda long but it is actually 2 fics in one.
Rating: B-
A Whole Other Level
Stargate SG1 & Atlantis. Slash. O'Neill/Sheppard. Hot.
Rating: B-
Broken Wings series
Stargate SG1. AU. Slash. Mini-Jack/Mitchell. Yes it's hella OOC and hella AU, but... still kinda hot.
Rating: B-
Retrograde series
Stargate SG1 & Atlantis. An AU of what happens when it takes 3 years to find the Atlantis expedition again, only the Trust got there first.
Rating: B
The Pegasus Connection
Stargate SG1 & Atlantis. Jack, Mini-Jack, Atlantis, Baal, ancient downloads. It's all good.
Rating: A-
