Uh, actually, the point was that Stark wasn't using a computer (or calculator) to do the math. He was writing it all out and doing the math by hand. Except he didn't write it out on paper like normal people but did it using holo-characters instead. Of course, why he did that instead of just plugging it into a calculator/computer...well, that's just his character.
RL high schoolers who memorize pi to the nth digit - uh, I think TDK!Batman is supposed to be really young age wise, so that's par for the course. Also, the point isn't Bruce knows pi out to the nth digit. It's also he can recite it through two orgasms. :P
