GW - Chinese New Year (pt 1)

So Guild Wars celebrated Chinese New Year this last weekend with the Canthan New Year event. I leeched a buncha free stuff from it of course. And in the course of doing so also leveled Qing Wen (the necro cashew made) to like lvl 16 and created a new character (that jumped from lvl 0 to 6 for doing 2 festival quests o_O) so I can get extra quest rewards... But um, yah, screenshots of the festival, split up into couple posts for bandwidth's sake...

GW - Chinese New Year (pt 2)

There were some cool new NPCs around town for the event. One was the Astrologer who told you what celestial (Chinese zodiac) sign your character is. I think it's based on the lunar months, since both the elementalist and the necro were pigs, the newly created char was rat, and my ranger (made around late Dec.) was a dog. Wow... that ranger is more and more like me every day... -_-

There was also a Fortune teller who would for a small fee tell you a fortune in one of four areas: love, health, prosperity, past life. Here's some of the fortunes on my elementalist main... (A not-comprehensive-but-large compilation of possible fortunes gotten from this mob is available here)

The main event on Sunday was the arrival of the Celestial Pig every 3 hours. There were 4 new NPC chefs around town who would start yelling for ingredients for the feast offering while a 10 minute clock counted down. If players could provide all the ingredients before time's up, the Celestial Pig arrives and brings lots of goodies. If only some courses were completed people got less goodies. If none were completed, supposedly all the PC's in town got turned *into* pigs for a while (though I did not experience this... I read up on the forums and plopped myself into town districts where guilds were gathered who had all ingredients). :P

Afterwards the celestial pig stuck around for about 20 minutes running in circles around town and everyone who was bored/insane/in the spirit followed it. In circles. XD Oh yeah, and everyone got a mask thingy. ^_^

And since the necro did her fair share of mooching freebies for me, I figure I'd do some party shots of her too. Maybe cashew will get a kick out of it since it was sort of her character. :P

Oh yeah, and I dyed her mask purple. XD
