EDIT to add:

Read 2 long multi-chapter fics from the YYH folder at ffnet which claimed to be xovers with HP. I was hoping for yaoi/slashy goodness (since both authors had slash/yaoi fics in their favorites list), but not only was there not a smidgeon of Hiei/Kurama, but no HP pairings either.

And even worse was the ham-handed way they tried to make the HP-verse somehow a peer to the late-series YYH characters. You have got to be kidding me. Demon lord Yusuke and even Class A's like Kurama & Hiei can take out blocks of people and buildings with a casual sneeze. The Potterverse looked at Pettigrew's one block per shot spell like it was the end-all-be-all.

Harry would get his butt kicked by *Ranma*, much less the YYH gang. And the idiot plot gimmies of letting Harry learn ki-stuff that makes him really powerful by YYH standards in just a couple of months... what is he, Ranma? He's *never* shown that kind of growth curve, power-wise. Or even studies-wise, while we're at it.

(And no, saying that we can give the YYH gang the ability to do magic to "even things up" does NOT work, when none of them *needs* that kind of magic. At all. Not in everyday life. And sure as HECK not in combat.)

And *then*! The WORST of the IDIOCY! One of the fics had the YYH kids undercover at Hogwarts and freaking HIEI got sorted into freaking GRYFFINDOR!!?!?! WTF?!? Because he's got a soft spot for his sister and is loyal to his friends? WTF?!? Apparently all Slytherin is good for is being traitorous to everyone else not yourself... despite all he house/family/blood pride going on? WTF?!?

So I guess we IGNORE the fact that Hiei is a friggin' DEMON. IGNORE the fact that he IS a DARK CREATURE. IGNORE the fact that he'd soon as eviscerate you as look at you. IGNORE the fact that the only reason he doesn't go on homicidal rampages in the human world is because the other Tantei would immediately kick his butt and ship him up the creek to Reikai. [sarcasm]Yeah, that just makes him *perfect* Gryffindor material, doesn't it?[/sarcasm]

And no, I'm not saying those traits should be the reaons to send him to Slytherin (aside from mabye the dark magics thing). He should be in Slytherin because he's cunning, sneaky, ambitious, and is a successful survivalist despite being tossed out as a newborn into the ruthless world of the Demon realm. He's willing (even eager) to get his hands dirty doing the jobs those people stuck on their moral high horses are too squeamish to do. And he doesn't suffer fools.

But do those idiot authors even care? Do they even try to *THINK* a tad deeper than the conclusions their biases immediately jumps to? No. Because Harry Potter and Gryffindor is the end-all-be-all of GOOD GUYS, and if you're "good guys", you'll be in Gryffindor and automatically end up friends with Potty, all willing and eager to tell him all your deep dark secrets and teach him your most powerful abilities.

Also, a new special topics class in CS has opened up. CS194 - Security. Though it's already full... I'm 20th on the wait list. *sheepish* Dangit, where were these classes when my telebears phase 1 started? It's not fair, I tell you. The whole point of having senior standing for telebears is so that I can get to the neccessary (*cough*good*cough*) classes first. *pouts*


(Of course, I also realize that by taking CS152, I have just consigned myself to leaving Cory labs at 4 a.m. in the morning again... Maybe I should just invest in a portable toothbrush/paste and spend my nights in the lab. -_-)
