Inspired by stupidity

So traffic was horrible tonight, right? It took me over half an hour to get through just the highway portion of my drive at an average speed of about 15 mph the whole way through. So I've been stuck in traffic with nothing much to do except actually pay attention to the radio, 'cause there's nothing else to do. And y'know what? There's some funny stories mixed in with the normal radio news...

This morning - Some idiots decided to streak through a 7-11. Unfortunately, they left their car running in the parking lot, and some opportunistic thief drove away with their car... and their clothes. Not quite Darwin Awards. But still stupidly funny (though I suppose not for people like ossian who runs stores like that, I guess - aren'tcha glad you don't live in crazy California? :p)

This afternoon - Somehow a car wound up blocking the traffic on highway 84 (80? 680?). Apparently the car was sitting on top of a mattress, and wasn't going anywhere soon. I'd like to hear the explanation of how it (the car AND the mattress) got there in the first place.

On the news - A lot of yakking on the news today about the whole Michael Jackson's court appearance today. I dunno anything about the guy, but his actions at the trial (arriving late, posing for the fans like it was a con) struck me as totally irresponsible and, well, arrogantly stupid. Let's just leave it at that.

Misc. Stuff

Okay, I finally got tired of making out the small light font against the checkered background on my GJ front page. So after fiddling around with it, my current solution is up. While the color doesn't match all that well, the content matches and I can actually read the words easily now. So I'm going to leave it as it is.

And speaking of GJ, I noticed that the friend-locked entry I made earlier today is timed at around 3 pm, which is when I opened up the update journal page to start writing it. However, I'd been called away from the keyboard halfway through and didn't get around to finish posting it until like 4 pm. Yet it still recorded the entry as 3 pm. Huh, weird.

In other news, since I don't have to get up in an ungodly early hour tomorrow, I might stay up later than usual tonight. (Well, unless my internal clock has become too well adjusted and makes me sleepy at around 11 or so.) So, anyone up for AIM tonight?

In yet another tangent, a list to myself of stuff I need to get done soon, preferably this weekend:

1. write/post the segment of the 2.0 arc
2. plan out the next part for the 2.0 arc
3. figure out the whole furniture thing with the previous apartment
4. see if my former roommate is around to pick up the stuff I'm holding for her yet
5. start making headway on converting the asian-girls pics from that site I linked a few entries back into CBR avatars and userpics
6. buy snack foods when next visiting the Chinese supermarket

Iconses again! Well I did promise on that last entry that I'd be making zen-cons of my own... so I've got up three of them so far, from photos courtesy of Yahoo Gallery. Also, one of ossian's entries inspired me to make a few gold/money-related icons.

Also, while I was looking up pics for those icons, I came across this site when searching for jewelry. What can I say? Star Sapphire Vilya. Opal Nenya. I want one of those when I get married. ^_^

Already downloaded a whole buncha pics from that site. Look for Elven-rings inspired icons in the near future, as soon as I get around to editing the text out of them pics.
