For cashew's fiction challenge, I guess. I wanted to write Kaidoh, since bad luck clings to him like a magnet. But my muse still isn't talking to me. So...

Pairings: Um... Implied GP, TezuAto, and a reference to Fuji/Kurumi
Notes: Anime continuity
"Ne, Tezuka, about Oishi and Kikumaru's post-club da--"

Tezuka stared at his cell phone, his stoic demeanor belied by the slight twitching of his eyebrow. That marked the seventh time Inui had called him that day. In Germany. About yet another useless piece of gossip that Tezuka wanted no part of, especially if it involved the Golden Pair outside of club. Tezuka would rather not have to add the dentist on top of all the other medical professionals he had to see.
So, this strange sort of stalking would simply have to stop. Brows furrowing just slightly in thought, Tezuka flipped open his mobile again to send a text email to Ryuuzaki-sensei.
~*~*~*~
Inui peeked over the window into the small cafe where Fuji sat awkwardly with his new and very young girlfriend among the small gaggle of a snickering Momshiro and Kikumaru.(1) This was certainly new data on a side of the Seigaku tensai that he'd never even suspected of. Tezuka must be informed of this at once.
It should be known that while Inui, like all the Seigaku regulars, was one of those people to who never gave up, he also never knew when to give up...outside of tennis.
The bespectacled data-man pulled out his phone and dialed Tezuka's new number that he had finangled out of Oishi.
"Guten tag--" (2)
The voice that answered the the ring with a long string of gutterals was definitely not Tezuka.
"Anou..."
In the slim hope that he had reached the medical center that Tezuka was staying at, and certainly someone there ought to speak Japanese, Inui tried to ask for Tezuka to answer the phone. He was answered by another string of gutterals. So he tried English, which he was rather good at, and surely it was an international language that someone there ought to speak.
He was answered by another string of gutterals, and before Inui could think to try something else, there suddenly came the light click of the line being switched, and thin strains of telephone muzak could be heard over the line. Thinking that the man must have gotten his message, Inui waited for Tezuka to answer the phone.
...and waited.
*Click* Beeeeeeep.
Inui blinked behind his glasses, his phone still blaring the dial tone quite loudly into his ear. It occured to him then that the gutteral speech he had heard earlier sounded suspiciously mechanical.
"Riktsu janai..." (3)
~*~*~*~
Far, far away in Germany, Tezuka was jolted out of his sleep by the shrill ringing of the phone. Blinking the sleep out of his eyes, trying to decide if he dreaded more an emergency from his doctor or Inui somehow figuring out how to contact him around all the red tape involved in threading a call through the medical center automated receptionists to him.
"Moshi-moshi?"
"Tezuka!" The idignant drawl definitely did not belong to either option. "How dare you make ore-sama talk to a machine service to contact you?!"
Tezuka sighed silently. He knew there was something he'd forgotten.

Footnotes:
1. Um, I forget when the Kurumi episode took place. I think it was when Tezuka was in Germany, but if it's not... er... just ignore the continuity. *shifty eyes*
2. I think this means good day. Or was it good morning...I forget.
3. I think that's how Inui's "It does not compute!" is written. Unless I butchered the Japanese, which is always possible.
