I mean, I don't really dig far enough into the math behind it all for optimal stats. I know there's graphs and formulas online if you really look for it, but that's too hardcore for me.

I just follow the stat recs on the commonly used website. And even then, I'm also adjusting for convenience rather than optimization sometimes... (For example, for DHIL it recommends the Wasteland EQ set, but the dungeon for that set doesn't produce anything usable by my other characters, so I stick with using the more common Musketeer EQ set on him, since I have a lot of those pieces and some are bound to have good stats.)

Star Rail is turn based, so I don't think internet connection matters too much. Very few battles turn into a long term affair unless you specifically make it so (like a team of all healers/protectors for the lulz). Admittedly, I play on PC, so I don't know how much of a strain it is on mobile or tablet resources; that's probably more a matter of the graphics engine.

Strategy wise... it's more about team building and synergizing, mostly. So in most cases, especially starting out, you would start building teams around a damager type character, preferably a 5-star pull. Then figure out which supports go best with it. Then start working on the B team. And so forth. Technically the F2P 4-stars are sufficient to pass all story content and farm content, and maybe 50-80% or so of endgame content like Simulated Universe and MOC/PF (depending on how much effort you invest in gear).

If you do start playing, let me know!
