I've only played 2 classes, so I can't talk definitively about the other classes. This game isn't really alt-friendly since you can't share anything between characters on the same account. I did find it easier to get into groups as a cleric, and easier to leave my vulpine on autoplay while I'm at work. From 3rd hand conversations, I've heard tanks are a bit tedious to play (but still high demand in groups). Not much clue about the others.

Equipment is really simple system. Basically if you pick up an item that's better than what you're currently wearing, it will prompt to you equip the new item. All buffs that you put on your equipment will get automatically transferred to the new item, so you don't have to worry about that. There is a way to transfer buffs to an item that's lower BR rank, if you really want to micromanage.

As for buffing EQ... there's multiple systems. One is the refinement system, which is RNG based. Basically I got my gear to lvl 5-6 and then ignored it after the default %sux got too low (and then sold my mystic stones for silver ingots, converted to silver coins to fund my skill upgrades). The other 2 systems are soulstones and engraving, which basically you can get components for in daily quests (guild quest and tower) and with silver ingots, so they're less to no RNG.

Aesthetics for in game gear are locked in and you can't mix-match (or I'm not aware of...). Then additionally theres pure aesthetic looks you can buy from the cash shop. Occasionally, various in game reward boxes have a chance to pop skins you can try for 7 days.
